Unexpectedly, I gained an hour of down time today!
When traveling, it’s always a good idea to doublecheck your travel itinerary, particularly the minor details like airport name. Here in the Maryland suburbs we have a wonderful choice of airports. Some people are dead set on which airports they will and will not fly in and out of. My husband, for instance, won’t consider anything within the DC Beltway. I, however, have no limitations on where I fly out of. My decisions are all financial. Give me the cheapest flight, and I’m there. Most often, that’s Baltimore.
This morning, I woke up at 3:30 for no reason other than my anxiety strikes at precisely this time every day. Today, I didn’t even try to go back to sleep. I got up, read, did yoga and finished packing for my trip to to New England. At 9:30, I headed to the airport, BWI to be exact. Parked my car, took the shuttle to the terminal. Inside, I checked the departures and could not find my flight. Checked another board. Still not there. Checked the date on my phone and the date on my boarding pass. December 2nd. Check. What the!?!
Oh. Washington National Airport. Of course. The best deal. An awesome deal in fact! Awesome only when one goes to the correct airport, when one checks her itinerary before heading out the door.
So here I sit, at BWI waiting on a later flight because this made more sense than racing to National Airport this morning. On Monday, I’ll be returning. To DC. Too bad my car will be here in Baltimore.
